Fernando Torres has pleaded with Antoine Griezmann to stay at Atletico Madrid past this season.

French ace Griezmann had looked destined to leave last summer, before eventually spurning the chance to join Manchester United and staying put.

But Griezmann's future is once more in question, with United's interest having not fully gone away and Barcelona now making moves to land Euro 2016's top scorer.

The Madrid club have lodged an official complaint with FIFA over the tapping-up of their biggest name after Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu met the Griezmann family to discuss a transfer.

And Luis Suarez added fuel to the fire this week by claiming the France international and Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho would be welcomed at the Nou Camp.

Griezmann is contracted to Atleti until 2022, but that deal features a €100m (£88m) buyout clause.

And while Atleti may prefer to sell Griezmann to United than their La Liga rivals, Torres is hoping that Griezmann again rejects all interested parties and stays put.

"Griezmann is still with us and we have to enjoy him, Atletico can sign and keep hold of the best players," the ex-Liverpool man told Radio MARCA on Wednesday.

"I would love it if Griezmann wants to stay at Atletico.

"You have to ask him [if he wants to stay], but when he decides to stay, it will be because he wants to."

Atletico currently sit second in La Liga, unbeaten in the competition this season.

Griezmann has scored seven times in 19 games in all competitions.
