Manchester City are targeting Tottenham star Toby Alderweireld as a long term replacement of Vincent Kompany.

Belgium international Alderweireld is currently is a contract stand off at Spurs having not agreed a new deal - despite still having a further two seasons left on his current agreement.

Mauricio Pochettino values Alderweireld at £60m having signing him from Atletico Madrid three years ago, according to the Sun.

Kompany only played 11 times last season and missed Saturday's clash with Liverpool with a calf injury.

City wanted to sign centre back Jonny Evans in the summer but couldn't agree a deal with West Brom.
