Manchester United are reportedly set to lose out to rivals City in the battle for New York City youngster Jack Harrison.

The 20-year-old has been impressing in MLS this season and was handed his first call-up to the England Under-21 side this week.

Both the Manchester clubs had been monitoring his progress, but City's relationship with New York City mean that they will have first refusal on him, report the Sun .

Harrison was at the Red Devils' academy until he was 14, but left when he did not see a long-term future at the club.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar has revealed the lengths that Cristiano Ronaldo would go to to become the very best when he was at Old Trafford.

And they included the Dutchman making some sacrifices of his own.

Speaking in the November issue of FourFourTwo magazine, the former United stopper was asked why it was Ronaldo and not fellow teammate Wayne Rooney who kicked on to become the player that we know today, when both were considered to be at a similar level when they were younger.

And the 46-year-old - who won four Premier League titles and the 2008 Champions League with the club - gave a fairly detailed answer.
