Manchester City are ready to make superstar winger Kevin De Bruyne the best paid player in the club's history.

City bosses are so keen to keep hold of the Belgian whizz that they are willing to splash £250,000-a-week to make sure he stays at the Etihad.

He would surpass the £200,000-a-week contracts David Silva and Sergio Aguero command, according to the Star on Sunday.

De Bruyne currently has a deal until 2020 but after a series of eye catching performances City are worried Barcelona could move interest from Philippe Coutinho.
