Manchester United have completed the signing of France Under-17 international Aliou Traore, a player they have been tracking for over nine months.

Traore, 16, made his debut for the club's Under-18s in a 3-2 defeat by Wolves on Saturday.

United have been tracking the former Paris Saint-Germain youngster since his time with the French side.

They have now moved to tie him down to a deal, after Traore initially linked up with United in February, playing as a trialist in an Under-17 win over Burnley. He subsequently joined United's Under-18s on a pre-season training camp in Austria in the summer.

"Traore is a boy we've been looking at for a while," declared Under-18s coach Kieran McKenna, speaking to MUTV.

"He is a really powerful midfielder who likes to run box to box. He is very strong technically and is improving all the time.

"He's a nice man and his English is improving. He's settling in well with the boys and has taken to the club really well."

The midfielder, who turns 17 in January, will be eligible for the club's FA Youth Cup campaign, which kicks off against Derby on December 13.
