Manchester United are plotting a January swoop for Inter Milan star Joao Mario.

That is according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, who say Jose Mourinho is ready to move for the unsettled attacker.

Mario only made the switch to the San Siro in the summer of 2016 from Sporting Lisbon, but has started just four times in Serie A so far this term.

The 24-year-old has notched five assists, however, and Mourinho could reportedly even offer Juan Mata in exchange for his services.

The Manchester United manager also accused City boss Pep Guardiola of getting an easy ride from football authorities as he is being allowed to wear a yellow ribbon in support of his political beliefs.

Second-placed United host the Premier League leaders at Old Trafford this weekend in what has been billed the biggest Mancunian derby for years.

And Mourinho began the pre-match mind games on Friday by claiming the Blues' players go to ground too easily.

Fellaini set for comeback

Marouane Fellaini is in line to make his comeback in Manchester United’s starting line-up tomorrow.

Fellaini has not played since limping off with a knee injury 10 late on in United’s 1-0 win over Brighton two weeks ago.

But, as revealed by Mirror Football yesterday, Fellaini has trained all week along with fellow injury doubts Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Phil Jones, with all three available.

With Paul Pogba suspended, United boss Jose Mourinho wants Fellaini’s height and physique to give his side aerial threat over City, particularly at set-pieces.
