Manchester United are battling against Premier League rivals to secure the signature of Monaco star Tiemoue Bakayoko, report the Daily Record.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be a keen admirer of the France Under-21 international and wants to secure his transfer during this transfer window.

But Chelsea and Manchester City are also believed to have an interest in the powerful midfielder.

Monaco had initially issued a hands off warning but, such is the level of interest in Bakayoko, they are believed to have reconsidered their opinion.

Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Chievo Verona keeper Alessandro Confente, writes Mirror Football's Tom Hopkinson.

United scouts were already keeping tabs on the 18-year-old before Jose Mourinho’s arrival in the summer.

But since then they have watched him even more closely, with Juventus also on alert.

Confente is working with the senior squad but still attached to the youth team, for whom he has kept four clean sheets in 11 games so far this season.

He is contracted to the Serie A club until June 2019 and valued at around £4million despite not yet making his first-team debut.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has claimed he remains open to keeping Memphis Depay at Old Trafford - but won’t stand in his way if he desires a move, writes Mirror Football's Alex Richards.

Depay hasn’t featured for United since the 4-0 win over Feyenoord in November, with Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford all ahead of him in the pecking order for his preferred spot on the left wing.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is a big fan and is keen on taking him to Goodison Park on loan.

“I was informed by the club that there is a chance Memphis could leave," Mourinho told Fox Sports. "From a human point of view, I cannot stop him from leaving when he is not playing under me.

"If he is staying, I would be more than happy because he is a fantastic guy and a very good player. I feel so sorry that I am not giving him opportunities to play. A player of his age needs to be playing matches.

"If he stays with me, for sure, he will play some games because we have so many matches."

Patrice Evra is “thinking about his future” at Juventus, the Serie A giants’ chief executive said after the Frenchman was left out of the squad for their win over Bologna on Sunday, writes Mirror Football's Mick Gadd.

Giuseppe Marotta left the door wide open for the former Manchester United star to leave Italy this month with clubs in Spain and England reportedly interested.

And he added that if Evra is moved on, they have enough talent on their books already to fill the void.

"Evra was not called up to the squad because he's thinking about his future," he told Sky Sport Italia. "If he leaves, we will not sign a replacement.

"It's only right he's taking a moment to reflect, as his contract will expire in June, he is 35 years old going towards 36. We'll see next week."
