Manchester United are hopeful of keeping David De Gea at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard remains a long-term target for Real Madrid after a proposed move to the Bernabeu fell through at the end of the window in 2015.

Real are eager to bring in a new No.1 in the summer with De Gea linked, alongside Thibaut Courtois and Athletic Bilbao stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

But any move could depend on Keylor Navas , who is likely to leave the club to make way for a replacement.

The Costa Rican joined Real in 2014 and isn't willing to settle for a cut-price deal elsewhere.

Navas has warned the club he will only depart for a deal on similar terms to his contract at the Bernabeu, reports Diario Gol.

That means Real would likely be forced to lower their asking price for the goalkeeper - with few clubs able to match his current terms and cough up a major fee.

Navas kept a clean sheet on Saturday but Real stay in fourth in the La Liga table after the 0-0 draw with Athletic Bilbao.

De Gea meanwhile draw more plaudits after an excellent performance in Manchester United's win at Arsenal.

The Spaniard performed a stunning double save at the Emirates, denying Alexandre Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez.
