Marco Asensio has requested 'emergency talks' with Real Madrid bosses over Arsenal's interest.

Midfield wonder kid Asensio is desperate to be offered a new contract as he feels the rumours in his future means he deserves an improved deal.

The Gunners had been interested in breaking his £72m release clause according to Diario Gol.

Asensio has no interest in leaving the Bernabeu but wants to up his annual salary to £5.5m a year.

Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona are also keen on Asensio following his incredible Under-21 European Championships for Spain.

"Something in my soul and in my heart" told me to snub Arsenal exit says match-winner Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud insists his heart will always be at Arsenal — despite playing second fiddle to £50million new boy Alexandre Lacazette, as reported by Mirror Football's Steve Stammers.

Striker Giroud came off the bench to score the winner in the season-opening 4-3 victory over Leicester on Friday.

West Ham, Everton and Marseille were all keen to sign the 30-year-old following the arrival of Lacazette from Lyon. But Giroud says the thought of leaving was, in the end, too much to bear.

“To be honest, there was something in my soul and in my heart which told me to stay,” said the France international, who watched Danny Welbeck and Lacazette start ahead of him.

“That is why.

"To be honest, I have been hesitating because I am the most happy man when I play and I am on the pitch. I keep the faith and I still believe I can have an important part to play this season in the club.

“I feel good in my head and also physically. So I am 100 per cent focused on the club project.”
