Spurs are loaning England U20 starlet Josh Onomah to Aston Villa in the wake of Jack Grealish's injury.

Onomah, 20, impressed as England's Young Lions won the World Cup this summer with a series of mature displays as a box to box midfielder.

He has three years left on his contract at Tottenham and the North London club are keen to extend it on improved terms.

But they are willing to loan him out in the short-term and Villa boss Steve Bruce has won the race for the starlet's signature.

Bruce chased Onomah after seeing Grealish ruled out until Christmas with a freak kidney injury in their final pre-season friendly last weekend.

Other Championship clubs including Wolves and Norwich were also keen.

Spurs decided to let him go following the emergence of Harry Winks.

Onomah previously sparked interest from Manchester United before penning his previous contract at White Hart Lane.

Onomah is yet to make his full Premier League debut for Spurs but has made 13 sub appearances and seven starts in Cup competitions.
