Arsenal players are being worked seriously hard during their tour of China.

While they have plenty of increasingly bizarre off-field, promotional duties to attend to, the Gunners' top men are also being put to work on the training field in Shanghai.

With temperatures above 30 degrees and in horribly humid conditions, the players are finding the heat of the training sessions particularly uncomfortable.

So, how do you help a top athlete recover in these circumstances? By chucking them into an ice bath, of course.

Sitting in a tub of ice cubes is a treatment used by many elite sportsmen, as it helps reduce inflammation in muscle tissues by reducing temperature and blood flow.

However, while the science proves the ice bath is highly effective, the far more interesting part is seeing how players react to being dumped into some freezing cold water.

Just check out the very different reaction of some of the Arsenal players…

Theo Walcott takes the meditative approach

"I am focused… I am relaxed… I am not cold…"

Aaron Ramsey is not in the least bit bothered

"I'm from Wales, mate. This feels like a summer's day to me."

Olivier Giroud is all about maintaining his reputation as a devilishly handsome devil

"Wow, that is pretty chilly…"

"…but I can still make this look cool."

Danny Welbeck knows it's for his own good

"Oh my God, that is cold. I don't like it… oh, I really, really don't like it…"

"Come on, Dan. Think of the lactic acid, think of the muscle recovery, think of the benefits. It's all for the best, it's all for the best, it's all for the best…"

And Mohamed Elneny simply does not understand the reason behind this torture

"Why would you do this to me?"

"WHY?"
