Bayern Munich boss Jupp Heynckes has said he wouldn't sign "selfish" Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Heynckes gave a damning verdict on the Gabonese striker following his suspension by Borussia Dortmund as well as his former teammate Ousmane Dembele, who joined Barcelona for an initial £97m in August.

The 72-year-old German, whose team lead the Bundesliga by 13 points, stressed the importance of good characters in the dressing room and suggested the pair of forcing moves away from Dortmund, currently fifth in the table.

Aubameyang, 28, is said to be keen on a move to the Emirates and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said the forward would "fit in" at the club, which angered Dortmund officials .

According to Goal , Heynckes said: "Things which happened with Aubameyang and [Ousmane] Dembele I see very critically. The clubs which sign those players have to be aware; they [Aubameyang and Dembele] could do the same to them.

“I would refuse to sign such players. Football is a team sport; you can’t just be selfish and follow your own goals. You have to think about the fans as well.

“We have to pay attention so that the fans don’t turn their backs on us and football.”

Aubameyang has scored 22 goals in all competitions this season and was nominated for African player of the year along with Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who won the award.

But disciplinary issues have seen him suspended twice this season.

The 28-year-old missed Dortmund's 0-0 home stalemate with Wolfsburg after he failed to attend a team meeting following a training session last Saturday.

Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc told reporters after the match: "Yesterday, after the team training, the team had a joint meal and afterwards an important team briefing that did not only concern today's match but also more general aspects, like our common goals and a code of conduct and he failed to appear."
