Alexis Sanchez has hogged the headlines this January, as he prepares to complete a big-money move to Manchester United.

And in all the excitement Mesut Ozil - who is in the same boat as the Chilean, what with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, and the player unprepared to sign a new deal with the club - has been a bit forgotten about.

Like Sanchez, the German is tipped to leave Arsenal in 2018 - whether this be in January, or at the end of the season.

Manchester United were linked with a move for Ozil, but this seems to have broken down after they turned their attention to Sanchez, and beat rivals Manchester City to the punch.

The Chilean will agree a £490,000-a-week deal with the Old Trafford club, where he will likely see out his career in England.

Ozil, on the other hand, is set to stay put. Arsene Wenger spoke out about Sanchez, as well as the incoming Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in Thursday's press conference, ahead of the Gunners' clash with Crystal Palace.

But the long-standing Arsenal manager refused to discuss Ozil's situation at length, and instead just confirmed that he would still be an Arsenal player when the window slams shut.

Gunners supporters will likely be delighted that they are set to keep hold of the playmaker for the rest of the season, but this does mean that they will make no money from his departure, if he does indeed decide to walk at the end of the season.

So what is Ozil currently up to? Well aside from preparing for Arsenal's next Premier League fixture, which they will be expecting to win after losing 2-1 to Bournemouth last time out, he has plans to speak to the Oxford Union.

The German, who has previously shunned media appearances, accepted an invitation from the university to attend on February 20.

Ozil will join a list of other sporting figures including Diego Maradona, George Foreman, Andrew Strauss and Boris Becker by speaking at the Union.
