Charlie Nicholas makes bizarre prediction for Man Utd-CSKA Moscow game

Manchester United are in Russia this evening to take on last season’s Russian Premier League runners-up CSKA Moscow in our second group stage game of this season’s Champions League.

The teams have already been announced and Jose Mourinho is starting with a back three as Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling all start.

Romelu Lukaku keeps his place up front after scoring the winner at Southampton at the weekend and will be supported by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Anthony Martial in what appears to be a 3-4-3 formation.

CSKA Moscow were 2-1 winners at Benfica in their opening group game, at the same time we were thrashing FC Basel 3-0.  Vitinho and Timur Zhamaletdinov scoring the goals for the visitors in Portugal.

Manager of the Russian side, Viktor Goncharenko, has named the same starting XI that were victorious two weeks ago.

Prior to the game, Sky Sports pundit and former-Arsenal player Charlie Nicholas has given his prediction for the game.

As reported on the Sky Sports website, the Scotsman has gone for a 1-1 draw in Moscow this evening.  However, what makes his prediction so bizarre is that he has gone for CSKA substitute Bebars Natcho to score the opening goal:

Whilst not impossible, it’s certainly a brave and somewhat bizarre call from the Sky Sports pundit!

Meanwhile, Red Rants are offering our readers 25/1 on Manchester United to beat CSKA Moscow this evening before kickoff.  At least with this bet you don’t have to rely on one of the manager’s to make a substitute to be in with a chance!
