Daley Blind reveals season objectives

Daley Blind has revealed it is Manchester United’s ambition to win the Premier League this season.

After a sixth-place finish in 2016-17, Jose Mourinho added Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof over the summer to strengthen our team.

10 points from our opening four fixtures see us top the Premier League table with Manchester City and we were 3-0 winners over FC Basel in our opening Champions League group stage match on Tuesday night.

Daley Blind has started three of our four games impressively at left-back in the new league campaign and the Dutch international told Sky Sports on Thursday that it is the club’s ambition to win the Premier League.  He said:

“We are competing at the top of the Premier League now and that is where we want to be.

“We have to be aware that we have to give it every time in every game to stay there – that is up to us.

“Winning the title is always the aim at Manchester United, you want to win trophies. Last year we win trophies, the year before we won trophies.

“In England, the Premier League is the thing I am missing, so maybe (we can win), that’s what we fight for.”

The 27-year-old has already won the Europa League, FA Cup, EFL Cup and Community Shield with us since joining after the 2014 World Cup and now has eyes on the Premier League trophy.

Blind was a four-time winner of the Dutch Eredivisie with Ajax for whom he came through the youth ranks of.

Manchester United host Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday.  The Toffees were hammered 3-0 at home by Tottenham last weekend before suffering a defeat of the same scoreline away to Atalanta in the Europa League on Thursday in which Ronald Koeman named a strong lineup.

Romelu Lukaku and Wayne Rooney are set to face their former sides on Sunday after making switches in the opposite direction over the summer.
