Long time Everton target from Inter Milan for sale

Some players simply get linked with a club every single year. For instance, Gareth Bale has been linked with Manchester United every year for about the last five. In the case of Marcelo Brozovic, there are links between him and the Blues as far back as 2014.

Now, Brozovic is one of three players reportedly on their way out of Inter Milan as Inter looks to escape FFP punishments. The plan is apparently to sell these three players and use part of that money to buy Suso from their crosstown rivals AC Milan.

Brozovic is a good player, as the link above will show when his name was first mentioned for Everton this summer. In 1700+ minutes for Inter last season he averaged 1.7 open play key passes per 90 and succeeded on over 68% of his dribbles. Two weeks ago? He would have been a great target for Everton.

But with the arrival of Gylfi Sigurdsson that ship has officially sailed. Right now, we need a starting striker and depth at the left back position. Those are the priorities, if Everton spends anymore money they are going there first. Another creator just doesn’t make sense right now.

It is truly bizarre that for as much hype as the Everton recruiting trip to Italy got this past summer, that it appears nothing will be coming from it. But this one is just a dead end.

More interesting for Everton in the Football Italia report is that one of the other Inter players for sale is Stevan Jovetic. Not really a great header of the ball but has decent size and could at least be another option for Everton as they scramble to add there. Might prefer to go somewhere else but Jovetic makes more sense than Brozovic at this point.

Jovetic wasn’t exactly a raving success during his time at Manchester City, but did decently enough in the offensively-laden side. He spent some time on loan at Sevilla last season from Inter, but at best would be a backup target man for the Blues, not the main center forward that we so desperately need.

Compare that to Sandro Ramirez, who is currently filling in as the lead striker for the Toffees.

Jovetic does have creative ability, but with both Davy Klaassen and Gylfi Sigurdsson now being charged with creating offensive chances, Jovetic seems lavish when more pressing needs exist.
