Former Everton captain says Diego Costa would be sensational at Goodison

Diego Costa finds his future in flux. Deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, he has been leveraging a move back to Atletico Madrid, but the Spanish club’s transfer ban is making things complicated for him in a World Cup year.

According to the regulations of the transfer ban, Atleti can sign players, but not register them until the beginning of the January transfer window in 2018. That has not stopped Costa from pushing for a transfer there by holding out from training with Chelsea. In fact, the player is still in his native Brazil waiting for his future to be resolved.

Meanwhile, amidst plenty of speculation that Everton can take him on loan until January to solve this growing crisis at the striker position, former Manchester United and Everton player Phil Neville has spoken on Sky Sports on how he sees the player fitting in with the Toffees (The Express).

“I think he would be absolutely sensational at Goodison Park.

“Goodison Park is one of those venues that like a hustle-and-bustle centre forward.

“Someone that’s going to get angry. Someone that’s going to kick and bully the centre-backs.

“He’s not going to go there because he wants to go to Atletico Madrid but Everton have the money to attract that kind of player now.”

We would have to agree with ‘Fizzer’ - when Romelu Lukaku was at his bullying best, dominating defenders with his strength and power, the home fans rose as one to applaud him. However, the same fans were quick to turn on the Belgian when he appeared ‘lazy’ and unmotivated, which seemed to happen quite often too last season.

With just a couple of days left in the transfer window, this situation will get resolved one way or another very soon.
