Fernando Llorente transfer a possibility for Everton

As the summer transfer window winds down, Everton continue to expand their search for striking options. According to the Telegraph’s insider Matt Law, one such option could be Swansea City’s veteran forward Fernando Llorente.

The Spaniard scored 15 times in 33 games last season at the age of 32. Llorente’s well past his prime, and who knows how much he has left in the tank coming off a broken arm suffered during the current preseason.

However, the big man does one thing, and he does it well - Fernando Llorente just scores goals.

That kind of goal conversion is nearly unmatched by any of Everton’s other transfer targets at striker (save maybe Olivier Giroud), and Llorente’s case is helped by his chemistry with Gylfi Sigurdsson.

However, Swansea City are rumored to be asking for somewhere in the region of ‎£30 million, which is ludicrous for a 32 year old. Furthermore, Llorente can’t really move, run, or do anything besides shoot.

Everton are a team without really any pace in the absence of Yannick Bolasie and Seamus Coleman. Adding one of the most plodding strikers in the history of the game could be seen as a step in the wrong direction.

In these times of desperation, you can see why Everton would be sending out feelers for cut rate options like Llorente, Kenneth Zohore, or Raul Jimenez. The fact is, Ronald Koeman’s Blues have more clout and more financial ability in the transfer market than that. Sign someone else, please.
