One of Everton’s points of pride is their U23 side run by David Unsworth, and it doesn’t look like that will be weakening today. Belgian outlet DH.be reports that Ronald Koeman wants to keep forward David Henen, despite interest from multiple clubs, including Malaga and QPR.
Henen, 21, can play as a winger or a striker. He’s never really gotten a chance with the Everton first team, but can play a key role for the youth side. The Blues’ Dutch manager wants Henen around for the season to see what he has to offer.
Originally from Olympiakos, Henen has been loaned out to Fleetwood Town and Monaco B during his time at Everton after securing a permanent move to the Merseyside club in 2014.
Henen has been a member of multiple Belgium teams at the youth level, and may yet go out on loan but no permanent sale will be sanctioned before the transfer window closes today.
