In the closing hours of deadline day, Everton announced that Liam Walsh would be going out on loan until January. The midfielder will joining up with Birmingham City in the Championship.

Walsh was an important cog in David Unsworth’s Under-23 side that lifted the Premier League 2 title last season, getting shortlisted for the Player of the Year award that was eventually won by his teammate Jonjoe Kenny.

The 19-year-old was born in the Huyton area and has been with Everton since he was five. His previous loan spell was during the second half of the season with Yeovil Town in League Two.

Walsh has three England youth international caps, but is yet to make his debut for the Everton senior side. He will join up with Harry Redknapp’s side who are currently sitting in 20th in the Championship out of 24 teams.

With this loan deal, that will bring to eight the number of young Toffees plying their trade in the Championship - Tyias Browning, Brendan Galloway, Kieran Dowell, Joe Williams, Matthew Pennington, Antonee Robinson and Callum Connolly.
