Who is your dream signing for Everton Ladies?

An American? An Aussie?

Many Everton fans were left wanting bigger signings after the Transfer Deadline closed for the men’s team, but what do we make of the Everton Ladies? They had their first big test of the pre-season yesterday against Arsenal Women and came up short, losing 0-3.

Is it time to panic or do we need to R-E-L-A-X?

Everton’s reintroduction back into the WSL1 may include a learning curve and certainly pre-season is the time to work out all the kinks. Simone Magill had a good shot on goal that was saved by Arsenal’s goalkeeper. Gabby George had a great defensive save in the second half, when she headed the ball away from Everton’s goal.

Coach Andy Spence stated on Twitter that the team has “lots to work on” but believes that they are “going in the right direction.” It will be interesting to see how his lineup will change for this Sunday’s match against WSL1 Champions Chelsea Ladies.

Arsenal had the home field advantage but also consists of many more players with international experience at the senior team level, which all three of their goalscorers have had with England.

Will Coach Spence want to add a few more signings? Does he, like Ronald Koeman, want to sign a big name striker? Forward Chloe Kelly, on loan to Everton this season from Arsenal, was not in the lineup for the game and so we did not get to see her goalscoring abilities.

In a dream scenario, Royal Blue Mersey wouldn’t mind a Big American Signing, considering USA is still ranked number one in the world by FIFA (for now anyways). Tobin Heath, a Portland Thorns midfielder known as one of USA’s most skilled players, would certainly be welcomed by audiences.

“American Messi” Rose Lavelle would also delight Everton crowds. Both of them are coming off of injuries where they missed a good chunk of club play, so it may be wise to join Everton after the NWSL season ends in October. Everton Ladies play Arsenal Women again on October 29 so it would be good timing to settle the score.

There are many England players that would be a great addition to the squad, especially Ellen White, a forward for Birmingham City.

OL Feminin just snatched Dutch international forward Shanice van de Sanden away from Liverpool Ladies, but that would’ve been a very juicy get for Everton. With Ronald Koeman’s home country becoming a dominant force in women’s football, perhaps he can help recruit more of their stars to add to the two young Dutch players the Blue Girls currently have on their squad.

Australian forward Sam Kerr, currently the NWSL’s all-time leading goalscorer, would certainly be a dream signing, albeit not a likely one because she plays in the Australian W-League after her season ends in the USA.
