Everton and Sunderland to honour Bradley Lowery

Everton and Sunderland players will wear the Bradley Lowery Foundation logo on their shirts when the two sides meet in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Everton’s sponsors Sportpesa and their Sunderland counterpart Dafabet have both agreed to donate their shirt space in honour of the young Sunderland fan.

Six-year-old Bradley captured the hearts of football fans across the world during his battle against neuroblastoma.

He enjoyed a particularly special relationship with Everton after he was mascot for the Toffees’ game at the Stadium of Light last September.

Everton donated £200,000 towards Bradley’s treatment and also invited the youngster to be mascot during the return fixture in February.

Bradley sadly passed away in July but his name will live on in the form of the Bradley Lowery Foundation.

Bradley’s parents set up the Foundation in order to raise funds to support other children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

It was launched with a charity football match at Goodison Park during the international break earlier this month.

Wednesday’s game is an opportunity to further promote the work of the Foundation and give both sets of the supporters the opportunity to honour inspirational six-year-old.

Bradley’s mum Gemma told the official website:

“We are absolutely thrilled to see the Foundation logo on the front of the shirts. The game has a very special meaning to myself and Carl and we are overwhelmed by the support we have received from Sunderland and Everton.

“Bradley will be watching over everyone and I’m sure he would be very proud that his legacy can now help others.”
