Everton are through to the last sixteen of the Carabao Cup (once upon a time called the League Cup) and will play Premier League champions Chelsea. The matches for the round are scheduled for the 24th and 25th of October.

The Toffees easily dispatched a woeful Sunderland side 3-0 to romp into the fourth round of the tournament earlier this evening. A brace from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and a cherry on top from substitute and prodigal son Oumar Niasse sealed the Blues entry into the next round.

Chelsea had comfortably beaten Nottingham Forest 5-1 in the third round, and the game against Everton will be played at Stamford Bridge. It will be a hectic time for the Blues, who are at home against Lyon on Thursday the 19th in the Europa League, then host Arsenal on Sunday 22nd. After the game against Chelsea, Everton will travel to Leicester City on Sunday 29th.

As for Chelsea, their lead-up to the Carabao Cup game involves a home game in the Champions League against Italian side AS Roma, then another home game against Watford before welcoming Everton, followed by a trip to AFC Bournemouth.

Here are the rest of the fixtures in the Fourth Round -

  • Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United
  • Bristol City v Crystal Palace
  • Swansea City v Manchester United
  • Arsenal v Norwich City
  • Chelsea v Everton
  • Manchester City v Wolves
  • Leicester v Leeds
  • Bournemouth v Middlesbrough

The Toffees could not have been handed a tougher task in the next round than that, unfortunately.
