Everton set to revive Olivier Giroud transfer in January

Arsenal might be willing to sell a striker after all.

We’d forgive you if the recent ascensions of Oumar Niasse and Dominic Calvert-Lewin made you forget that Everton desperately need a starting striker. Unfortunately, Ronald Koeman’s side still do, and if a report from The Mirror is to be believed, the Blues may use the January transfer window to reprise a bid for their original target.

The report states that one of the main reasons for Olivier Giroud’s Arsenal stay was that manager Arsene Wenger was unsure if he would lose superstar forward Alexis Sanchez. Well, the Chilean has stayed, and remains on a roster that includes himself, Giroud, Alexandre Lacazette, and Danny Welbeck. Too many cooks in the kitchen.

If Giroud continues on the fringe’s of Wenger’s squad, a winter move to Merseyside could be in his best interests for making the trip to Russia with France next summer. Everton could slot the big man right into a lineup that should then include Seamus Coleman and Yannick Bolasie. If the Blues remain in the Europa League through the winter, that level of depth and talent would be enough to do serious damage.
