Everton Ladies face their most challenging opponent of the pre-season against Chelsea Ladies on Sunday at 2:00 pm (9:00 am ET).

Everton Ladies pre-season record so far is 2-1. They won against Blackburn Rovers and Watford but lost to Arsenal. Coach Andy Spence believes that the team is going in the right direction. He has said in the past that he is not afraid of the big WSL1 sides and that Everton will be “a really good side, with big hearts, who play great football with a real competitive spirit.” The Blue Girls have certainly been through a lot after being relegated and then fighting their way back into the top FA women’s league for this season.

Chelsea Ladies are the WSL1 Champions and had an off season camp in Austria. They have had two enviable pre-season games against Europe’s best clubs, Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich. Although Chelsea lost both of those games, coach Emma Hayes said on their website that they are “assembling a group that is going to compete with the top clubs in Europe.”

Chelsea’s roster is impressive and includes not only the league’s top goalscorer of last season (Fran Kirby) but of the 2016 season (Eniola Aluko) as well.

Everton may decide to play their recent international signings, two Dutch players Siri Worm and Marthe Munstermann. The two players were club teammates at FC Twente since childhood and have Champions League experience. Munstermann scored a goal in her Everton debut against Blackburn Rover.

Come on you Blue Girls!
