In his first press official press conference since signing for Everton, striker Cenk Tosun spoke to the media earlier today just a couple of hours before the Blues announced their second signing of the January transfer window, Theo Walcott.

When Tosun was asked how he felt about playing with the former Arsenal player, he said -

“Theo is a great player, proven in the Premier League - he has done well at Arsenal for many years. I would say that he will be a massive signing for us.

“I think I will link up well with him. We have talented players in our team and I am sure we can have a great input.

“The main aim is to take the team to a better place, to score as many goals as I can. This year looks a little difficult but in the future I want to win trophies and be part of that for the club.

“For the rest of the season, we have to aim to be in the top half of the table - maybe seventh or eighth will be good for us.”

Tosun added that he was himself very excited to join the Blues once the Toffees’ interest became known to him.

“Everton is a massive, historical club. Sam Allardyce played a big role in this as well. The club wanted me and to play in England was one of my biggest dreams.

“I spent three and a half great years with Besiktas. I loved the manager, he was like a father figure to me. But everyone needs new missions in life and to play in the Premier League was my mission.

“There was a club that was interested in me but I do not want to name them. Everton were serious that they wanted me and I seriously wanted to come here.

“The Premier League is very fast football, strong with a high tempo but I am strong myself. I would have liked my debut to be better, I would have liked a better start but it was not to be I am afraid.

“Our supporters can be assured that it will be much better this weekend.”
