It was a rollercoaster of a game, but Arsenal nicked a late winner at home to Leicester City last Friday to kick off their Premier League campaign with a win. They’ll hope for rather more routine success on Saturday, when they travel to the bet365 Stadium to take on Mark Hughes’ Stoke City.
Stoke's start was rather more underwhelming, the Potters going down 1-0 to Everton at Goodison Park. It was a reasonably tight game, and they've got little reason for immediate concern. However, we’ve seen in previous seasons the importance of building momentum early on, and they’ll certainly be hoping to give Arsenal a good game on Saturday. Jesé could be handed his Potters debut after joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
Stoke will be without Julien Ngoy, who is injured; Stephen Ireland and Ibrahim Afellay both face late fitness tests. Still on the treatment table for Arsenal are Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sánchez, while Laurent Koscielny is suspended. Per Mertesacker, Shkodran Mustafi, Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin, Kieran Gibbs and Gabriel are all doubts.
