Michael Carrick is hopeful that Anthony Crolla's ''roller-coaster'' career continues with a victory over Ricky Burns on Saturday.
The Manchester United captain will be ringside to watch the former WBA lightweight champion as he attempts to put himself back into world title contention against Scotland's three-weight king at the Manchester Arena, live on Sky Sports.
"The story of Crolla is a bit of a roller coaster," Carrick told MEN Sport.
"To go through what he went through and then lift a world title, it's incredible.
"It's a massive fight on Saturday. Everybody is aware of who both fighters are and what it will mean for both of them.
"I came to Crolla's first fight against Jorge Linares but couldn't get to the second one, but I'll be there Saturday and I'm looking forward to it."
Crolla returns to the scene of his last two fights where he suffered back-to-back defeats to Jorge Linares, while Burns lost WBA super-lightweight title in a unification clash with Julius Indongo in April.
Both fighters have acknowledged the significance of the bout at this stage of their careers, but Crolla is buoyed by the support of the football team he follows.
"Being a big United fan it's really nice that the boys choose to come and wish me luck," said Crolla.
"There will be a few there on Saturday and I'm very fortunate to have the support that the club gives me week in week out.
"I still find it all a bit mad as I'm there cheering those boys on every week, so for them to even know who I am is a bit strange, but I really appreciate it."
