That's certainly what Moeen Ali did as he smashed Keshav Maharaj for a superbly-struck straight six at Old Trafford, and then there waiting on the England balcony to casually claim the catch was none other than Jonny Bairstow.

Reflecting on his innings with Sky Sports' Ian Ward in The Zone, Ali said: "I was really getting going - we needed a bit of momentum and it came off for me, even though I had a couple of chances.
"I backed my defence but then I felt that sometimes you can be a bit of a sitting duck. The crowd was going, too, so I thought I would go for it and back myself. Sometimes you have to take the odd risk."
