Speaking on The Debate, Craig Bellamy thinks Jadon Sancho's move from Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund could be the making of him.
The England U17 international moved to Dortmund on Deadline Day with the Bundesliga club understood to have beaten several other leading clubs to his signature.
Tottenham and Arsenal were reportedly interested in the 17-year-old, who was left out of Pep Guardiola's first-team City squad earlier this summer and afterwards missed a number of training sessions.
But Sancho opted for a move to Germany and former City striker Bellamy, speaking on The Debate, thinks the move to Dortmund could be the right fit.
"For those who do not know Jadon Sancho, you need to know, he is that good," Bellamy told The Debate.
"I was fully aware of him when he was at Watford. And then when he went to Man City, I was speaking to the head of development there and they could not stop raving about him.
"So I went to see him play for myself, as I had to, and he was that good. So I thought he was going to be the next one at City, he was going to come through, this kid is that good that he is going to be the next big player coming through.
"It is going to take a couple more years to get to that stage, but he has a chance because his ability is that good. But maybe Germany and Dortmund are the right fit for him at this time."
Sam Allardyce joined Bellamy on The Debate and the former Crystal Palace manager thinks the move could be make or break for Sancho, using Jay-Jay Okocha's move to Germany as a 14-year-old as an example.
"It will make him grow up," Allardyce said. "He will have to grow up.
"I had Jay-Jay Okocha at Bolton and he left Africa at 14 to move to Germany. He said that was the making of his career because of what the German system taught him. He learnt the language and became a very disciplined, talented, world class footballer, who moved on to do great things not only for his country but in all leagues around Europe.
"So it's a big move for Sancho in terms of will it enhance him? Or will he feel homesick, struggle with the language and want to come back to England?"
