Euro Papers: Jose Mourinho sounds out Toni Kroos as No 1 Manchester United target

Italy

Jose Mourinho has identified Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos as his ideal Manchester United target. The Germany international is the Portuguese coach's preferred candidate to bolster United's midfield but realises how difficult it will be to convince him to leave the Santiago Bernabeu. The 27-year-old joined Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014 and has helped them win two Champions League titles. (Calciomercato)

Arsenal face competition from Newcastle for 23-year-old Atlanta United midfielder Miguel Almiron. The Paraguay international has attracted attention after impressing for the MLS side, with the Premier League duo keen on securing his services. Almiron could be available for £15m. (Calciomercato)

The agent of Inter defender Milan Skriniar has denied the player is set to join Barcelona. Speaking about the much-debated future of the Slovakia international, Karol Csonto said: "Milan to Barcelona? It can't happen, he has a good head on his shoulders and great personality. Arsenal are interested in making a bid for Napoli star Jorginho. The midfielder is under contract at the Stadio San Paolo until 2020 and is unlikely to leave with the club top of Serie A, but that will not deter the Gunners from pursuing him. Arsene Wenger is keen to sign a creative midfielder with the futures of both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil hanging in the balance. (Transfer Market Web)

Juventus are targeting a six-month loan deal for Tottenham Hotspur target Andre Gomes. The Portugal international has failed to make an impression at Barcelona and looks set to leave, with the Serie A champions leading the race for his signature. (Tuttosport)

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has decided to sack manager Antonio Conte following a breakdown in the pair's relationship. Conte is under pressure following the Blues' heavy Champions League defeat to Roma on Tuesday night.

There is little contact between the two as the debate over Diego Costa's future left a strain on their working relationship. The feeling at Stamford Bridge is that Conte will not be in charge by the start of next season. (MARCA)

Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka will let his contract expire and join Barcelona at the end of the season. The 22-year-old Liverpool target has been in fine form this term and looks certain to leave the Bundesliga club after failing to agree a new deal. Schalke may even let Goretzka leave in January to cash in as opposed to losing him for free in the summer. Manchester United and Juventus are also interested. (Mundo Deportivo)

Doctors considered amputating the foot of Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla after the 32-year-old contracted gangrene. Spanish midfielder has not played this season as he continues his long road to recovery following an ankle injury. Cazorla has undergone a string of operations, including a skin graft on his ankle, and is now targeting a return in January. (MARCA)

Former Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is facing a lengthy suspension after being sent off for Marseille for kicking a fan in the head. The veteran left-back was involved in a heated exchange with his own supporters during the warm-up before Marseille's Europa League clash with Vitoria de Guimaraes.

The Frenchman lost his temper after reportedly being subjected to singing and chanting by his own supporters and swung his left leg towards a supporter's face. The club are likely to incur a hefty fine from UEFA while Evra is looking at a ban much longer than the automatic three games for violent conduct. (L'Equipe)

The 21-year-old has made four appearances for the Blues this season after turning down a loan move in the summer and is open to leaving to gain new opportunities. Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele has returned to training. The Frenchman, who joined the Catalan side in the summer for £96.8m, has been out of action after rupturing a tendon in August. After resuming light training, the 20-year-old is ambitiously targeting a return in the first El Clasico of the season against Real Madrid on December 23. (L'Equipe)

Germany

Bayern Munich are considering Giuseppe Rossi as a potential short-term back-up option for Robert Lewandowski. The former Villarreal and Fiorentina striker has been without a club since April after failing to sufficiently recover from a series of serious knee injuries and is being considered by the Bundesliga champions. Bayern are also discussing the possibility of signing Paco Alcacer of Barcelona, Arsenal's Danny Welbeck and Bayer Leverkusen forward Stefan Kiessling. (Sport BILD)
