Jose Mourinho has admitted he expected Manchester United to lose their appeal against Phil Jones' European suspension.
United lodged their opposition with UEFA to Jones' ban, which begins with Tuesday night's Super Cup match against Real Madrid and also includes their first Champions League group game.
Eric Bailly will also be suspended for the pre-season showpiece match in Skopje but both players will be available for the club's Premier League opener against West Ham on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Premier League.
If a player wants to enjoy the victory with his team-mates I expect the doping committee sends somebody with him and doesn't close him in a room.
He was also fined €5,000 (£4,475), the same amount Danny Blind was told to pay, while United were fined €10,000 (£8,950) over the rule breaches.
Mourinho hopes a less hard line approach is taken by testers following Tuesday's games and that celebrating players are allowed to enjoy their moment.
"Phil Jones, I was expecting the appeal to be negative," Mourinho said.
"I only hope that after the game tomorrow if one of the players wants to celebrate and if one of the players wants to get his medal and enjoy the victory with his team-mates I expect the doping committee sends somebody with him and doesn't close him in a room."
