Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay is being actively pursued by England and Scotland, Sky Sports News understands.

Lancaster born McTominay, who qualifies for Scotland through his Glasgow-born father, is being tracked by senior youth development representatives from both the FA and SFA.

In May, Scotland U21 manager Scott Gemmill confirmed that the association had "watched him a lot", but the FA is also understood to be monitoring him.

The focus on the 20-year-old has intensified in recent months following his Premier League debut, when he replaced Juan Mata late in the 2-0 defeat at Arsenal in May.

That was followed by a full 90 minutes in the 2-0 victory against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on the final day of the season.

McTominay's club future is also uncertain and he's believed to be attracting interest with less than a year remaining on his current deal at Old Trafford.

He recently travelled with Jose Mourinho's squad on their pre-season tour to America, before scoring his first senior goal in the 3-0 friendly win against Valerenga in Oslo.

Mourinho has publicly predicted McTominay, along with Demi Mitchell and Andreas Pereira, could be in a select group of home-grown youngsters to become first-team regulars at United in the coming years.

McTominay was part of a United U23 side to beat Leicester 1-0 in Premier League 2 action on Monday night, a side managed by former Scotland U21 manager Ricky Sbragia.

He's yet to play for England or Scotland at any level.
