Marko Grujic was on target as Liverpool U23s beat their Manchester United counterparts 3-1 in the Premier League 2 at Leigh Sports Village on Monday night.

Liverpool fielded a strong side, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ben Woodburn, Grujic and Danny Ings, who is continuing his comeback from two serious knee injuries, all featuring for Neil Critchley's side.

The Reds took a deserved 14th-minute lead through midfielder Ovie Ejaria, only for United to draw level just past the hour-mark thanks to James Wilson's effort.

However, Liverpool went back in front when Serbia international Grujic, who came on as a second-half substitute in the senior team's 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Sunday, found the back of the net.
