Since struggling for first-team football at Old Trafford, reports have linked Shaw with a move to North London and the 22-year-old has hinted he would be open to a reunion with his former manager.

Shaw, writing in the epilogue of Guillem Balague's Brave New World: Inside Pochettino's Spurs: "I think with Southampton he achieved the impossible. We were one of the best footballing teams in the league… I do hope that I can play for him again one day. And I think he really wants me to play under him again.

"He used to call me his son, that's how good our relationship was. I've had lots of ups and downs, but when I was with Pochettino it was only ever up, up, up.

"He made me feel that I was the best. He'd show me clips of my games and say, 'You should do this better'. Not in a horrible way. Not I could have done better, but I should have done better, because he knows I can be better."

Reports have suggested the 22-year-old could be involved in a swap deal for Spurs left-back Danny Rose, who suggested in August he would be keen to move to club up north in order to be closer to his mother.

Shaw will be reunited with his former boss this Saturday when Manchester United host Spurs, live on Sky Sports Main Event.
