Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has admitted he is open to returning to Real Madrid one day.

The 23-year-old - back in the Spain squad for friendlies against Costa Rica and Russia - joined the Blues in a £70m move from Real in the summer.

Morata says he did not want to leave the Bernabeu but was desperate to play more regular football.

"Of course I would return to Real Madrid, but it's complicated," Morata told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser's main football programme El Larguero.

"I told the coach I wanted to play more. That I wanted to go is foolishness. I felt important for Madrid, but I wanted to play in the Champions League knockout stages.

"I've never said a bad word of Madrid nor will I say it. Always I wish them the best. I'm a fan of Madrid but a Chelsea player."

Morata was recently forced to explain comments about feeling unsettled in England especially due to the weather and busy nature of the capital, but he insists that things have improved.

He said: "We have adapted well in London. When I arrived I got used to not having time to think much. At the beginning, it was not all the good that was expected. My wife has helped me a lot.

"Before, when I lost, I was locked in my thoughts. Now I take it differently. I have a calmer life. There is more traffic jams than in Madrid. I miss the weather but the sun rises, even if it's half an hour."
