Arsene Wenger said Arsenal "defended well" despite conceding three goals in an entertaining draw with Liverpool.

Roberto Firmino's late equaliser earned Liverpool a point in a 3-3 draw against Arsenal, after the hosts had come from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 at the Emirates on Friday Night Football.

Goals from Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil in a frenetic period swung the game in their favour but Firmino salvaged a point for Liverpool.

When asked if he should have employed the tactic of 'parking the bus' when 3-2 up, Wenger responded: "I don't know what you mean by park the bus - we defended well but with that quality they could always score.

"They have quality everywhere going forward.

"Credit to players, we didn't show any weakness - I'm frustrated we couldn't keep it 3-2 but it was a fantastic game with quality on both sides. We had quick combos, they had fantastic counter attacks."

One of the positives on the night for Arsenal was the performance of Jack Wilshere, who made his third consecutive Premier League start for the Gunners for the first time since October 2014.

Wenger admitted he is delighted with Wilshere's progress since returning on loan from Bournemouth.

"I think he is one of the players who played with quality in the first half, determination," Wenger said.

"Jack is never frozen, but what he did in the second half was like the rest of the team, I liked what he did. He's better now than he was in the last two or three years, I think he is positive overall and is in a very good shape at the moment."
