Wayne Rooney admits Everton players need to collectively score more goals this season following the departure of Romelu Lukaku.
Manager Ronald Koeman has added Sandro Ramirez and Davy Klaasen, alongside Rooney, to the attacking department at Goodison Park in order to replace the Belgium's 25 Premier League goals last season.
And Rooney, who scored eight times in his final season at Manchester United, is aware of the team's need to shoulder the goal-scoring responsibility left by Lukuka's £90m move to Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old made his first competitive Everton appearance for 14 years in the Europa League third-round qualifier against MFK Ruzomberok on Thursday, and insists scoring more goals is amongst his targets.
"I felt comfortable [against Ruzemberok]. I am ready to go," Rooney told the official Everton website.
"It is a new challenge for me and I want to help us be more successful. Hopefully I can help contribute to the team.
"It would be great if we could get a few of us scoring the goals this season, but we will wait and see how that pans out and just keep working hard."
The Toffees' were forced to rely on Leighton Baines' strike to see off the Slovakian side in the first leg of the Europa League qualifier, but Rooney is confident there is more to come from Koeman's side despite the tight 1-0 score-line.
"The most important thing is making sure we are right for the start of the season, getting pre-season under our belts", the striker added.
"We are only a few weeks into pre-season, so we are still preparing.
"It was a game (Ruzemberok) where we had to get a result and we have got a good win to take to their place next week.
"We are pleased with that but, of course, there are things we can do a lot better."
