Trabzonspor claim they have made a loan offer for Tottenham's Moussa Sissoko and that the Frenchman is keen on the move.
Vice-chairman Gencaga Meric says Spurs would rather sell him permanently and recoup most of the £30m fee they agreed to pay Newcastle last summer, but they have yet to decide on the Turkish club's proposal.
Sissoko had a poor first season at White Hart Lane, making just eight Premier League starts despite being the club's record signing, but impressed in the friendly win over Juventus on Saturday.
Meric told Turkish-Futbol: "Sissoko is keen on joining, we have spoken with him and talks went well.
"We have yet to convince Tottenham or their manager. Tottenham want to recoup most of what they invested in Sissoko but we want him on loan.
"We have made our offer and are waiting for a decision."
Sky Sports News understands Spurs agreed to pay Newcastle five instalments of £6m on the Sissoko deal and will still have to meet those obligations if they sell the player.
He arrived at White Hart Lane as a right-winger despite impressing in midfield for France at the 2016 European Championships.
Sissoko began his senior career at Toulouse before signing for Newcastle during their major recruitment haul from Ligue 1 in 2013.
Tottenham have declined to comment, having been contacted by Sky Sports News.
