Harry Kane would command a bigger transfer fee than Neymar but Tottenham should never sell the striker, says Tony Gale.

It has been reported by Spanish web site Don Balon that Real Madrid are willing to pay 200m Euros for the England forward, who scored 13 goals for club and country in September alone.

Gale feels Tottenham need to keep Kane because he is exactly the type of star player they require at their new stadium but that if he was ever sold, the transfer fee would be a new world record which would eclipse the £198m Paris St-Germain paid for Neymar in August.

Tony Gale believes Harry Kane would command a bigger transfer fee than Neymar but that Tottenham should never consider selling the striker

"The temptation is that if they sell him, that will pay for the new stadium," he said. "But you want the best players to play in the new stadium and he's one of the best strikers in the world at the moment.

"They'd be mad to sell him, you've got to build everything around him and give him what Real Madrid would pay him.

"I think he's worth more than Neymar. Harry's got goals in him and goals are the thing."

Harry Kane's former Tottenham clubmate Shaquile Coulthirst says the England striker has always had a goalscoring touch

Ray Wilkins agreed that Tottenham should not contemplate allowing Kane to leave, and cited the Gareth Bale sale as proof that cashing in on high-value players is not always a successful strategy.

"They got £80m for Gareth Bale and they didn't really do a lot with that so they can't afford to let him go."

And he added: "You've seen what's gone on and you have £180m for Mbappe and £198 for Neymar. Harry's up there with the lot of them.

"He has to be up there near that figure and that's the going rate for players. But if Tottenham want to push on and keep players like him, they need to keep him at the going rate."
