Martin's Starting Stats

West Ham have now played more than a season in the London Stadium and of their home Premier League games they have nine wins - and all of those wins have included a clean sheet.

The lesson is, if you score against West Ham at the London Stadium, they don't beat you! Seven of those wins were 1-0 - they beat Crystal Palace 3-0 last season and they beat Huddersfield 2-0 this season.

They have, however, won one cup game there in which they conceded - a 2-1 win over Chelsea in last season's EFL Cup.

Cheikhou Kouyate scored West Ham's first first-half goal at the London Stadium since his goal against Swansea on April 8. They have played eight Premier League games since then without a first-half goal and have only scored six first-half goals in the Premier League since moving there.

Scoring without a shot on target

Huddersfield scored against Man City without having a shot on target in the game - how many times has that happened before in the PL? Nick T

Highlights: Huddersfield 1-2 Manchester City

MARTIN SAYS: We asked our friends at Opta about this and they only have data from the start of the 2003/04 season.

In that period, you might be surprised to hear there have been 13 occasions when a team has scored without having a shot on target.

This is the third time Manchester City have been the victim of this. Back in 2003, Middlesbrough won at the Etihad, the City of Manchester Stadium as it was then, thanks to a Sun Jihai own goal.

Then 13 months later City were held to a home draw by 10-man West Brom, who had Thomas Gaardsoe sent off after 17 minutes, but a freak Richard Dunne own goal five minutes from time cancelled out Nicolas Anelka's opener.

The victory over Huddersfield was the third time in this period City had fallen foul of conceding against a team who didn't have a shot on target, but this was the first occasion that City had picked up three points.

Everton are the only other team who have suffered this fate more than once in the last 13 Premier League seasons. The first time saw them draw at West Ham after Tony Hibbert gave their opponents the lead with an own goal before Seamus Coleman secured the Toffees a point. Then in September 2016, Middlesbrough got a consolation at Goodison Park due to a Maarten Stekelenburg own goal in a 3-1 victory for Everton.

Highlights: Crystal Palace 2-1 Stoke

MARTIN SAYS: Shaqiri's goal against Crystal Palace was his seventh from outside the penalty area since he made his debut just over two years ago.

However, in that period four players have scored more from outside the box than him.

The record belongs to Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, who has scored 12 times from outside the area since the start of the 2015/16 campaign - three more than Tottenham striker Harry Kane (nine).

Shaqiri finds himself fifth overall, with Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Everton's Gylfi Sigurdsson - who also added to his tally on the weekend - one above on eight strikes apiece.

Long-range goals since 2015-16

Player Goals outside of box
Philippe Coutinho 12
Harry Kane 9
Gylfi Sigurdsson 8
Kevin De Bruyne 8
Xherdan Shaqiri 7

Water-tight defence

Can any Premier League club beat Manchester United's tally of six goals conceded after 13 games? And if so, where did they finish? Sarah T

MARTIN SAYS: This is the eighth time we have seen a team let in six goals after 13 matches since the Premier League began - and three of the previous seven went on to lift the trophy.

In fact, on each of the occasions that Manchester United have completed their first 13 matches with only six goals conceded they have gone on to win the league - in 2006/07 and 2007/08.

Liverpool also let in six at this stage of the 2007/08 season, but went on to finish fourth, as did Arsenal in 1993/94. The Gunners only let in five goals in the first 13 matches of 1998/99 but finished second that season.

Chelsea boast the best record in Premier League history after 13 matches. On two occasions the Blues conceded just four goals with 13 games gone - they went on to clinch the title in the 2004/05 season, while they finished third when doing so again in 2008/09.

Fewest goals conceded after 13 games but where did they finish?

Season Team Goals Against Final position
2004-05 Chelsea 4 1
2008-09 Chelsea 4 2
1998-99 Arsenal 5 2
1993-94 Arsenal 6 4
2006-07 Manchester United 6 1
2007-08 Manchester United 6 1

Super-sub

Willian scored just 144 seconds after coming off the bench at Anfield on Saturday - has any sub had a quicker impact in Premier League history? Matthew, Derby

Please use Chrome browser for a more accessible video player

Did Willian mean it?

MARTIN SAYS: Willian's equaliser against Liverpool was the fastest goal by a substitute in the Premier League so far this campaign - and maybe the most discussed?

However, when it comes to the quickest goals by a sub - dating back to when Opta's records began in the 2006/07 season - the record is currently held by Sammy Ameobi.

The Newcastle forward netted just eight seconds after coming on against Tottenham in October 2014, live on Sky Sports to help his side come from behind to secure a famous victory.

In fact, Ameobi had been introduced by then Newcastle manager Alan Pardew at half-time at White Hart Lane, and took next to no time to bring the visitors level, before Ayoze Perez grabbed a winner.

Other substitutes to have made a quick impression are Wigan's Antoine Sibierski, who scored only 15 seconds after being brought on against Derby in January 2008 and Fulham's Andrew Johnson, who took just 17 seconds to net after entering the fray against Wolves in April 2011.

Meanwhile, Everton's Apostolos Vellios (October 2011) and Yakubu Aiyegbeni (April 2010) both took just 18 seconds to find the back of the net as subs against Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers respectively.
