Watford boss Marco Silva expects Valon Behrami to leave the club before the summer transfer window closes.

The Switzerland midfielder has made 49 appearances for the Hornets since his £2.5million move from Hamburg in the summer of 2015.

But the 32-year-old has been told he is not part of Silva's plans and is free to talk with other clubs - he has been linked with a host of clubs in Italy and Switzerland, including FC Sion.

Silva has signed Derby County midfielder Will Hughes and Chelsea's Nathaniel Chalobah to boost his options since taking over as manager in May.

"Valon is working on the training ground but he's one player who won't stay with us," Silva said after the 0-0 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday.

"It's time for him to find other solutions for his career, and we will see where he will play, but he will not stay in our squad."
