Derby have signed Wales international Joe Ledley on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who left Crystal Palace at the end of last season after his contract expired, joins the Rams on a deal until January.

Ledley will be available to train with his new team-mates on Thursday and could make his debut for the club against Birmingham in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

"Derby is a big club without a shadow of a doubt," Ledley told the club's website.

"I've dealt with expectation for most of my life and I've played in big games for most of my life where everyone expects everything so hopefully now I can just work hard and play as well as I can.

"It has been a long time so I'm raring to go."

Ledley added: "Derby manager Gary Rowett has been fantastic - he sold the club to me straight away. He told me what he wanted from me and I totally agreed with everything he said.

"He's a young manager, he did well before at Birmingham and he's come here and is doing a good job.

"He's hungry and that is the sort of manager that I want to work under."

Ledley started his career at Cardiff before moving to Celtic in 2010, where he won three Scottish Premiership titles and one Scottish Cup.

He moved to Palace in 2014 and went on to make 97 appearances for the Premier League side, scoring six goals.
