John Stones believes England have a squad capable of playing like Premier League leaders Manchester City.
City have started the new season in scintillating form - scoring 22 goals and conceding just two in their opening seven league games.
Pep Guardiola's side lead cross-city rivals Manchester United on goal difference at the top of the division and Stones, who is currently away on international duty, sees no reason why England can't produce the same attacking play in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania.
"We have the players to do it," said the Manchester City defender. "It is difficult to bring how you play in the Premier League into international football - it is so different.
"But we are always striving to be better and there is a lot of likeness between how City play to international football, as with Tottenham and various other clubs.
"To try to gel those things is difficult - I suppose that is where football is evolving. It is changing, it is not where it was 20 years ago.
"As long as England win and keep clean sheets and keep bettering themselves every year - and hopefully making the nation proud - that is all that matters.
"That we keep making steps forward and keep progressing and trying to do our best for ourselves, our families and the nation."
