Marouane Fellaini and Vincent Kompany have been called up to Belgium's squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Cyprus.
Fellaini was injured during Manchester United's Premier League win against Southampton last weekend and missed the Champions League game against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.
"Fellaini was lucky, it could be a much worse situation," United manager Jose Mourinho said of the injury, and added that he hoped the midfielder would not be called up by Belgium as they have already qualified for the World Cup.
Kompany, meanwhile, is included in Roberto Martinez's squad despite failing to play for Manchester City since the Premier League win against Bournemouth on Aug. 26 due to injury.
The Belgium captain returned to training on Monday, but Pep Guardiola said he is not in contention to face Chelsea on Saturday.

Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke and Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele are not included because of injury.
One major absence is Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan, left out for the second successive international break by Martinez despite showing sparkling form with the Giallorossi.
"I opted for continuity," he said. "We have played two good games since the start of the season. Tactically, we have found our style of play. It's a purely football decision. We've qualified, it's important to continue with the same team. We have two games in which we can secure a seeding for the World Cup. It's important to continue with the same core of players. It's not the time to make changes or experiment.
"I have to make the best decisions for the team, and I think there are other players who perform better in his position with the national team. People try to dramatise a situation that doesn't exist. This team is the first from Europe to qualify for the World Cup, that means it works."
The former Everton and Swansea City boss added: "Radja is one of around 50 players we follow. But it's true, tactically, I noted that the matches he played in were sometimes complicated."
Belgium, the first European nation to confirm their participation at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, face Bosnia and Herzegovina on Oct. 7 and Cyprus on Oct. 10.
