Everton boss Ronald Koeman admits pressure is building after Lyon loss

Everton boss Ronald Koeman accepts that pressure is growing on him following Thursday's 2-1 Europa League defeat to Lyon at Goodison Park.

Koeman's side fell behind after only six minutes when Nabil Fekir scored from the penalty spot, and while Ashley Williams levelled with 20 minutes left the Ligue 1 outfit produced a winner from Bertrand Traore.

Everton have picked up just one point in the Europa League group stage -- the worst start of any English club in European competition and the only team without a win. And they have now failed to win in three successive games at Goodison Park in all competitions, with Arsenal next to make the trip to Merseyside on Sunday.

But Koeman, who was given the "total support" of majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri earlier this month, insists he is not about to walk away.

"Of course, if the team is not winning and if the team is not performing how maybe they can then it's always the manager and the final decision is by the board and that's not by myself," he said.

"I'm strong, I'm trying to do everything and if the board thinks I am not the right man on this position then they will tell me.

"It's a difficult situation. You get confidence from winning games. The way we fought in the second half is something to keep and to continue. We know for everybody it's an important game at the weekend."
