Nemanja Matic in Manchester United squad for Sampdoria friendly

Nemanja Matic could make his first Manchester United appearance in Wednesday's friendly against Sampdoria.

Matic, who sealed his transfer from Chelsea on Monday, travelled with the rest of the squad to Ireland ahead of the game at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

David De Gea and Antonio Valencia, who were not in the squad for the 3-0 win over Valerenga at the weekend, are also included in the squad.

The Manchester Evening News has reported that Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who suffered an injury in Norway, will be fit to face the Italian side.

United goalkeeper Sergio Romero, meanwhile, said he was expecting a good contest against his former club Sampdoria.

"I think that it will be a nice match because it will be a good game for Sampdoria to play and to be able to measure its quality against Manchester United," he told MUTV.

"We know that we have a lot of fans in Dublin and we hope to be able to give them a great match because they will surely pack the stadium. We hope to be able to show our fans in Dublin that we want to fight for all the competitions that Manchester will play this year."
