Marcus Rashford will be a 'world-beater' - Man United's Phil Jones

Phil Jones has backed Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford to become "a world-beater."

Rashford scored his first Wembley goal on Monday night as England beat Slovakia 2-1 to move within touching distance of a place at next summer's World Cup in Russia.

The 19-year-old was on target in his last game for United, too, coming off the bench to score the first in a 2-0 win over Leicester at Old Trafford.

Jones told MUTV: "He's a great lad off the pitch and, on it, he's a special talent. He's already special but he'll be a world-beater one day, he's that good.

"He's so quick, sharp, technically gifted, two-footed and a nightmare for defenders. You've seen it this season already, he's given defenders nightmares.

"He's an academy product and players from the youth system have done great over the last few years. He's a special player and we're lucky to have him."

Rashford is part of a United front line that also includes Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial and is set to be strengthened in January when Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns following knee surgery.

Meanwhile, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy says the attacking flair Sir Alex Ferguson used to demand is returning under Jose Mourinho.

Van Nistelrooy, who played alongside Wayne Rooney, Alan Smith, Louis Saha and Cristiano Ronaldo at United, said: "There's creativity there, there's passes there, there's players who can move, who can finish.

"The full-backs are joining in, putting in the crosses as well. It's a very complete squad at the moment.

"In the end it's the quality of the players you have on the pitch, and this year -- and last as well because they did very, very well last year as well -- but this year they look even better."
