Western Sydney Wanderers re-sign Mark Bridge to two-year deal

Mark Bridge is officially back in red and black after signing a two-year A-League deal with Western Sydney.

The foundation forward and fan favourite returned to Australia this month after terminating his long-term contract with Thai League 1 club Chiangrai United.

He'd been supported by the players' union over a trying past six months, during which his relationship with the club soured irrevocably.

Professional Footballers Australia are still resolving the issue, but Bridge has wasted no time picking up where he left off.

The Blacktown-born 31-year-old was the heart and soul of the Wanderers, with whom he spent four seasons before departing after losing the 2015-16 Grand Final to Adelaide.

He was the club's all-time top-scorer (32 goals) until being overtaken by veteran Brendon Santalab last season (37 goals) and is now a chance to eclipse former captain Nikolai Topor-Stanley as the player with the most appearances.

This season Bridge will join an already-promising attacking contingent featuring new Spanish marquee Oriol Riera, Santalab, Lachlan Scott and Jaushua Sotirio.
