Arsene Wenger sends fresh message to Arsenal fans about Alexis Sanchez
Arsene Wenger confirms that Alexis Sanchez will be staying at Arsenal and that he's due to report back to the club on Tuesday
Arsene Wenger has once again insisted that Alexis Sanchez will be staying at Arsenal beyond the summer transfer window.
The Chile international’s future has been a relentless source of speculation this summer after he entered into the final 12 months of his contract at The Emirates.
Sanchez has been linked with the likes of Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks as the uncertainty about his future continues.
However, Wenger has once again insisted that the 28-year-old will remain an Arsenal player after he was quizzed by reporters after the Gunners’ 5-2 win over Benfica in the Emirates Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking at his post-match news conference, Wenger said of Sanchez’s situation: “There’s no development, it’s always the same. He’s staying, of course.”
The Arsenal manager also confirmed that Sanchez is set to report back to the club on Tuesday after he was struck down with the flu at the end of his summer holiday.
Wenger continued: “He has the flu. I spoke to him through text message yesterday, He will come back as soon as possible, we’ll be in touch with him and his doctor. There’s no basic problem. He comes back on Tuesday.”
Sanchez is one of a number of Arsenal players who are out of contract next summer, including the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
